As some of you may already know, as well as our online shop we run The Arundell Arms Hotel in Lifton, Devon – which is also where our fishing school and shooting days are based. The past few months have been incredible for us, where everyone’s hard work and passion has paid off with the announcement of three tourism awards, putting our humble 300 year old coaching inn firmly on the map!

The beginning of May saw us lift the trophy as winners of the Tourism Prize at PEA People & Environment Business Awards. These celebrate businesses who are committed to sustainability and living green, and recognised the Arundell Arms for our work in both the hotel and on the rivers. We attended the ceremony in London, which in itself was a marvel of eco-friendly and renewable suppliers, with local edible flower displays, low energy LED lighting and even a green carpet! We had a fantastic evening here, and thank every one involved for a great awards ceremony.

Following from the success of the PEABs, we then discovered we were nominated for the prestigious Visit England Business Tourism Award. We were more than happy to be short listed, but at the awards ceremony in Manchester at the end of May, we came away with the Bronze prize! The Visit England awards have been going for 23 years, and really are a benchmark for tourism businesses such as ourselves to aspire to. We are only a small coaching inn, hidden deep in the West Country, and so to be recognised by such an esteemed organisation is something we are all very proud of.

And then, to top off our already incredible month, we were given the Trip Advisor 2013 Certificate of Excellence, putting us in the top 10% of hotels on Trip Advisor. This award really means a lot to us, as it is based purely on customers’ reviews of us on the Trip Advisor site. The certification means that we have consistently maintained an overall rating of 4 or higher, out of a possible 5. Many of our customers use Trip Advisor to find us, so we are very thankful to those that leave such positive feedback, encouraging others to come and stay with us in our little corner of Devon.

We want to thank everyone involved in The Arundell Arms Hotel for their hard work and dedication – without it, we wouldn’t be here today! We hope the rest of the year continues how it’s started - as they say, onwards and upwards!
