The gluggle jugs are so named as air is trapped in the tail making a characteristic glugging noise when poured. It is ideal for holding water or your favourite refreshment at the dinner table.
A special pair of jugs was made in 1958 for presentation to the Queen and Prince Philip on their visit to Britannia Naval College to present New Colours. This country home gift undoubtedly helped the popularity of the jugs as they have become great collector’s items. Over the years, hundreds were made to advertise the world famous Plymouth Gin.
