There is no better feeling than sitting on a horse, trotting through some beautiful scenery and allowing the fresh air to blow away our troubles. However, we are not all lucky enough to live near wide open spaces where we can keep a horse or ride someone else's.

This is why horse riding holidays are so popular. As either an experienced or completely new rider, we are able to take a few days out of our busy lives and get back to nature, experiencing the countryside with a four legged friend who is used to the surroundings and perhaps accompanied by someone who can regale us with stories of the area.

We have put together 5 of our favourite horse riding destinations in the UK, which we hope may inspire any horse lover to take a break and enjoy the ride!

With a shoreline of 75 miles, the home of the Jurassic Coast is a wonderful place to take a horseback riding holiday. The views across the beaches and cliff tops are second to none and will make you feel like you are a million miles away from home. Further inland you will find more rural spaces to roam with your horse, such as through stunning forests, where you will find some of the 1700 bridle paths and trails that Dorset has to offer.
