A classic country gift is suitable for every occasion, be it a birthday, an anniversary or even a wedding.

So what is a country gift?  For me, a country gift is something created with the countryside in mind, be it the scenery, the wildlife or the sporting and social activities we enjoy when we are outdoors.

I like to find items that are made right here in the UK, using quality “home grown” materials, such as pottery, pewter, tapestry or objects featuring British artwork.

When I think of a traditional country gift, a hip flask, a piece of fine china, elegant writing stationery and country silk ties all come to mind.  In subtle shades of countryside colours, featuring wild animals, birds, flowers and sporting themes, a country gift should bring a touch of the countryside into the life or home of the recipient.

For the fishing enthusiast, a great set of cuff-links featuring a fishing inspired design will add a touch of their own personality to any outfit.

Hunters love the countryside and are often horse and dog lovers, so any item combining these three items is sure to be a success. Great pieces of British china featuring a hunting scene, or an embroidered cushion for the home, are objects that will bring a piece of the outdoors indoors, and can be enjoyed over and over again.

Racing is a great British sport, and we all love to get dressed in our best for a day at Ascot.  Encourage the man in your life to add a splash of colour to his racing attire with a great country tie.  A silk tie is light and comfortable to wear whatever the weather, and allow the wearer to let their personality shine though.

In all, a great country gift is whatever you want it to be, as long as it brings a smile to the receivers face – your objective is achieved.
